Ready to walk on hot coals but unsure what to expect? This comprehensive FAQ guide answers all your burning questions (pun intended!) and prepares you for a transformative firewalking experience.
-
What exactly is firewalking? It's more than just stepping on hot coals! Firewalking is an intense yet empowering journey where you traverse a bed of red-hot embers (around 1,200°F!). Through pre-walk training, you'll conquer fear, build confidence, and understand the science behind safe firewalking.
-
Is there a trick to firewalking?Absolutely not! The fire and heat are real, meticulously prepared by trained professionals. You'll witness the temperature measured and feel the power of the embers first-hand.
-
Does firewalking hurt?Surprisingly, most firewalkers describe the sensation as walking on eggshells or hot sand, not painful. Proper training teaches you weight distribution and quick walking techniques, minimising contact with the heat and preventing burns.
-
How should I prepare for a firewalk? No strenuous physical or mental prep is required, but here are some key tips: · Avoid alcohol and drugs before the event. · Keep your feet clean and free of oils or lotions. · Wear comfortable, loose clothing you can easily remove. · Bring footwear for after the walk like sandals or flip-flops. · Consult your doctor if you have any medical concerns.
-
What should I wear to do a firewalk?Comfort is king! Opt for: · Loose-fitting, natural fabrics like cotton or linen that breathe well. · White or light-coloured clothing work well for firewalk photographs · Shoes that are easy to remove and slip back on afterwards.
-
Are there any medical restrictions to do a firewalk? While you can still firewalk with the following conditions, we recommend you consult your doctor if you have: · Diabetes · Heart disease · Circulatory problems · Autoimmune disease · Pregnancy · (Children under 18 require parental consent)
-
Is firewalking safe to do?Firewalking does carry inherent risks, but thorough training, experienced instructors, and proper equipment minimise them. Following instructions and respecting safety guidelines ensures a safe and empowering experience.
-
Will I be hypnotised to firewalk? No hypnosis involved! You'll be fully conscious and aware throughout the process. The training focuses on mental preparation and building confidence, not altering your state of mind.
-
Are there age restrictions to firewalking? The recommended minimum age is 12, but younger children may be considered on a case-by-case basis with parental consent.
-
What if it rains or snows on the day of the firewalk?Light rain or drizzle won't impact the fire significantly. However, heavier rain or snowfall may necessitate postponement or cancellation for everyone's safety and enjoyment. We'll keep you updated and work to reschedule if necessary.
